I didn’t have as many problems planning an outside wedding as I thought I would. It wasn’t as expensive as an indoor wedding would have been. Having the natural beauty of the outdoors saved us a lot of money on decorations. The first thing I had to do was to find the perfect location to have our summer wedding and reception. I thought about a super beach wedding and reception, or maybe have it in a gorgeous garden, but I decided to have our ceremony and reception in the park. I was surprised at all the parks available for weddings.
I decided to go online and get some expert advice on how to plan the perfect outdoor wedding. When you plan to be married in the great outdoors, it seems you have to have a backup plan just in case the weather turns from sunny to pouring buckets. It’s a good idea to have a tent ready to continue your ceremony if it becomes necessary.
Plan “A” was setting up a gorgeous trellis for our ceremony to be performed under and canopies for the reception. I only had to get decorations for my bridal table and the reception tables for our friends and family. About all I needed were a extra flowers and my table settings, thanks to the already present beauty of the park. I decided to go with artificial flowers because I didn’t want to have our wedding to be the target of a bee swarm. The only way you could tell that the flowers were artificial, was by touch, they were beautiful. The wedding was easier than I originally thought it would be, but there were a lot of things to consider. You want to make sure you have plenty of citronella candles scattered about, and that the rest rooms are within walking distance, and make sure your frosting on your cake doesn’t melt in the heat.
As far as table décor, I found so many fantastic accessories for our reception. I had little park bench place card holders at each table setting, and little citronella votive candles in glass globes with a nice flower arrangement as our centerpieces. The chrome bottle openers we bought for our guests were packaged in beautiful favors boxes and given out as a summer wedding invitation. One of the most decorative things on our wedding table was our gorgeous wedding cake with the beautiful cake topper I ordered.
While shopping for my wedding accessories I saw this topper and couldn’t resist it. They were customized toppers for the wedding couple. They put our faces on our cake topper, and all I had to do was send them a photo of me and my fiance. How could I ask for a better wedding keepsake than that? Everyone at the reception had something to say about how unique it was. It was the perfect wedding and reception, just like I had hoped for. The weather cooperated and we never had to go to plan “B” with the tents. The DJ we hired was really exceptional and I’m sure that the music played on long after my new husband and I left for our honeymoon. A lot of good things were said about our wedding ceremony and everyone said they had a fantastic time at the reception. I’m so glad I decided to go with a wedding in the park. I’d love to do this again and have a wedding renewal in the park, maybe for an anniversary, someday.
