It
was March of 1945. Arthur Gross and his friend,
two concentration camp captives, hid in a cellar,
under the camp's barn. A vicious, German Shepard was
barking at them all day through the only window.
Later that night, when they escaped, the dog,
surprisingly, stopped barking and did not attack.
They found out later, that the remaining prisoners
were executed! Arthur has had an incredible
love for dogs ever since!
On
the left is Arthur, age 17 and his friend,
age 19.
