Sigi Hart |
|
Sigi Hart remembers the emotional meeting with his mother after his release from Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. He was driven by an ambulance to Toulouse, France, where he saw her waiting on the second floor balcony. Two months later, he was sent by a British warship as one of the few legal immigrants to Palestine. The boat docked briefly in Naples, Italy. His father, who resided there, went to the harbor to stop him - only to miss the boat by minutes. The emotional meeting and the voyage to Israel were documented in this framedmemory. Sigi is on the left, holding a duffle bag, age 17. His mother is looking through the window. On the right, reflected in the mirror is his father. Click on the picture to enlarge. |
